Classic Timber Furniture is taking an evolutionary step – and it’s not for the first time in our history.

Our family business was founded by David and Jill Gronow. We started selling raw pine furniture in 1975 trading as the Whitewood Centre. As tastes changed David and Jill decided to guide a transition into the well-known SA brand, Classic Timber Furniture. James and I (the business’ second generation) took over the running 15 years ago. Today, many Adelaide homes feature examples of our beautiful products.

Modern architecture and interior design tastes reflect an enormous range of styles and furnishings. Home owners love furniture that’s practical, yet expresses a personal style. While staying true to our timber heritage, Classic Timber has continued to respond to your feedback. Recently, we’ve added fabulous contemporary designs and new materials – such as leather, fabric, aluminium, concrete and wicker.

James and I feel it’s time for another change. The Classic Timber brand doesn’t describe all the beautiful looks we now stock. And it doesn’t reflect all the wonderful new furniture styles we’ve discovered that we’re about to showcase at our renovated stores. So, we’re changing our brand.
We’ve settled on a new name, Kimberly James Furniture. Kim and I want you to know that you’ll still enjoy our very personalised service, that we’re keeping our solid timber ranges and now you can choose from a wider range of quality designer styles – without a heavy designer price.
So, what will Kimberly James Furniture stand for?
We believe furniture is an investment in your family’s lifestyle and you deserve something better – great furniture that will last.
So, for us to showcase anything in our beautiful new showrooms it must be comfortable, practical and look great. In other words, furniture that will make your home a great place to live.

Our lasting promise to our customers will be to bring you exclusive brands from Australia and around the globe. We’ll stock unique furniture of superior design and lasting quality, at sensible prices, all lovingly wrapped in an outstanding customer experience.
What happens to Classic Timber Furniture? The name will live on as a branded range of furniture, in Kimberly James stores as well as in other stores across Australia. It will remain synonymous with high quality, great value, Australian hardwood, solid timber furniture.
