It’s when Classic Timber customers want that individual look in a sofa or occasional chair that we often turn to our local manufacturers and fabric suppliers. We recently interviewed Selina at the amazing showroom of Warwick Fabrics. She introduced their stunning new fabric ranges as we explored the latest trends in beautiful materials, colour and furniture styles.

Here’s some highlights from our interview:
Kimberley“Selina, who is Warwick Fabrics?”
Selina“Warwick Fabrics is a family owned company. We’ve just celebrated our 50-year anniversary as :one of the world’s leading fabric and textile wholesalers. Our showrooms are located across: Australia with our head office in Melbourne.”
Kimberley“I love your showroom Selina. Can you tell me more about it?”
Selina“We’ve been in this location for about 15 years. Our founder, Tom Warwick had a lot of input into: the design and layout.”
Kimberley“I think it really works – I love coming here.”
Selina“Thanks. I might be biased but I think it’s a beautiful and inspirational space to work! We always: have our entire range on show for people to browse. This can be a little overwhelming at first, but: our staff are wonderful at pointing visitors in the right direction. It’s so important to make it easy to: find the fabric that’s just right for you. There’s also larger sample pieces you can borrow to see if: the fabric works in your own home.”
Kimberley“Selina, a question we’re often get asked; what’s new this season?”
Selina“A dollar for every time I’ve been asked that Kimberly! No seriously, it’s an important question for: people who are wanting to create a fresh look for their home.
:Firstly, colour and pattern are really making a comeback. There’s certainly a bit of a 60s: and 70s revolution going on! You can see this in our new Kaleidoscope range as well as the: beautiful printed velvets of the Warhol and Kandinsky collections. These bright and playful fabrics: are ideal for making a bold style statement.

:There’s also a strong trend towards geometrics inspired by tribal influences. An example would be: our new Tavi collection. It’s very modern with a relaxed feel and a beautiful earthy palette.

:Then there’s lovely textured plain fabrics, such as our Nixon range. This style has been popular for: a while yet has remained new and vibrant as colour palettes evolve. While your neutrals are: always popular many people are now braver and are going for some colour. Navies and pastels: are also really on trend at present.

:Another favourite is the Eastwood collection. It’s a leather look fabric – perfect in spaces where a: real leather piece is simply either impractical or unaffordable. The traditional leather colours are: gorgeous – well worth a look.”

Kimberley“With so much to choose from, what are your top tips for selecting fabrics?”
Selina“I always recommend you go with your personal style. While it’s good to know what’s on trend: you also need to live with your choices. It’s also good to consider how your furniture piece will be: used. Is it a heavy-use, every-day couch or more decorative piece? Do you have pets and kids?: These all play a factor in choosing the right fabric.”
Kimberley“OK, so I get my beautiful new sofa or occasional chair home – how should I care for the fabric: coverings?”
Selina“All our fabrics come with care labels that include cleaning instructions. We also make these: instructions readily available from the showroom. If people want more information, our website is: great and our staff are more than happy to help with any tricky cleaning queries.”
